Israeli teenagers win gold at world windsurfing championships

Yoav Omer and Noy Drihan are world champions after they won gold medals at the 2015 windsurfing Youth World Championships in Gdynia, Poland.

Competing alongside more than 130 sailors from 28 countries and five continents, Israel’s windsurfers claimed the gold in all four competitions. Omer finished top of the pile in the U19 boy’s tournament, Kfir Azulay did likewise in the boy’s U17 category, while 15-year-old Drihan won both the U19 and U17 girl events.

Omer, 16, said: “My goal was to win a medal in Poland and I’m happy that it was a gold.”

Drihan said: “I knew there were high expectations from me, but I gave my all and I’m delighted.”
