#IsraeliLivesMatter protest planned against wave of Palestinian violence and incitement

A protest has been planned to take place outside the Palestinian Mission in response to the recent wave of violence, writes Jack Mendel.

The event will highlight the role that incitement has played in motivating attacks on Israelis in recent weeks, which has led to four Israelis deaths with hundreds injured across Israel, in stabbing, rock throwing and shooting incidents.

Organised by the ZF in partnership with the Board of Deputies and other cross-communal organisations, the event has been set up on Facebook and on Twitter using the hashtag #IsraeliLivesMatter.

It will be held on Tuesday 13 October.

Arieh Miller, Zionist Federation Director, said: “Now is the time to show solidarity with ordinary Israelis, who are facing a seemingly endless barrage of attacks while they try and go about their everyday lives. But solidarity isn’t enough – we need to publicly hold the Palestinian Authority to account for allowing and encouraging these attacks. That’s why we’re holding a protest directly outside the Palestinian Mission, their diplomatic representatives here in the UK. It’s time to say enough is enough: end the violence and incitement.”

Board of Deputies President Jonathan Arkush said: “The Board utterly condemns the sharp surge in violence perpetrated by Palestinians towards Israeli citizens in the past week. The failure of the Palestinian Authority to condemn these acts of murder is nothing short of disgraceful. The Israeli Government must be allowed to take the action it needs to protect Israeli citizens. We call on the community to stand behind Israel and show solidarity by joining this demonstration.”
