It doesn’t add up! JFS cuts maths exam short by 10 minutes

JFS students were ushered out of their GCSE maths exam 10 minutes early… after the school got its sums wrong.

Headteacher Jonathan Miller sent an urgent letter to concerned parents of year 11 students after realising the mistake.

He said: “In this morning’s Modular Maths GCSE examination it became apparent, after the examination had finished and once students had left the Main Hall, that we had made an error with the end time for the examination. As a result, students in this location were given ten minutes less than they should have been given to complete the examination.”

The message stresses to parents that the school has been in contact with the Examination Board, adding “we have confirmed that we will be submitting an application for special consideration to be applied to all the students who sat the examination in the Main Hall”.

The exam board has “confirmed that this special consideration will ensure that the students are not disadvantaged by this situation.”

The letter concludes by saying the school “fully recognise that this will have caused distress and concern for both students and parents. We are, of course, extremely sorry that this error occurred and hope the information above will provide some reassurance in this unfortunate situation.”

One student took to twitter to complain: “Shoutout to JFS for messing up the timings and giving us 10 minutes less then everyone else on the edexcel maths paper today”. Another wrote: “Well done JFS for cutting maths exam short, extra marks here we come :)”.

JFS refused to comment further when contacted.
