Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has been spotted in Tel Aviv this week tucking into Israeli cuisine for what is rumoured to be his latest television show.

The Naked Chef was welcomed by Sultana vegan restaurant on Ibn Gabirol Street, where he sampled a vegan schwarma on Tuesday.

Posting a picture of the smiling 43-year-old on its Facebook page, Sultana restaurant wrote:

“Yes, the rumours are true. Chef Jamie Oliver has visited us for a TV show that will be aired later this year. He was charming and enjoyed the schwarma and the atmosphere, and that’s just about all we can say for the time being.”

Nurit Goren, who runs tours in Carmel Market, was lucky enough to meet Oliver in person and have a quick photo taken with him, during a visit to nearby Julie, which specialises in Egyptian cuisine.

They spent a “wonderful five minutes together,” Goren told Times Of Israel.

“It was literally the fulfillment of a dream,” said Goren. “I’ve been watching his cooking shows since I remember, since I was a little girl.”

Jamie has also been spotted tasting vegetable-filled street food at the Panda Pita pop-up stall, as well as Venezuelan fayre at Arepita’s Town.
