Druze Policeman becomes fifth victim of Jerusalem terrorist attack

Druze Policeman Zidan Saif has become the fifth victim of the terrorist attack at a Jerusalem synagogue in Har Nov, writes Jack Mendel

Saif who was 30 and from Yanuh-Jat in the Galilee, was praised as a hero by his community and by the Police force.

He was the first policeman at the scene of the attack, to confront two Palestinian terrorists wielding knives, axes and pistols, according to Haaretz.

The terrorists killed four Jewish victims, including British-born Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, and inflicted a head wound to Saif who would later succumb.

Israeli politician Naftali Bennet paid tribute to the his family, and the Druze population, and said that “Israel bows its head in his memory and in memory of the four other victims.”

The Israel Police echoed Bennet’s tributes, tweeting that Saif “risked his life to save lives.. May his memory be blessed.”

The spiritual leader of his Druze community said how they “are proud of our sons who act fearlessly on the front against terrorist attacks.. The Druze community strongly condemns the act of terrorism, where Palestinian terrorists massacred and slaughtered innocent civilians.”

Saif is survived by a wife and a daughter of under a year old.
