The community’s biggest health and social care charity Jewish Care has appointed a new chair, life president and president.

A former trustee and treasurer, Jonathan Zenios is to be chair of the Jewish charity, taking over from Steven Lewis, who will become president from September.

As part of the shakeup, Lord Levy is to be made life president. The peer will be the first person to ever hold the role in the organisation’s history in honour of his “outstanding contribution and unstinting commitment to Jewish Care over the last three decades.”

Zenios said he felt “privileged” by the appointment. “It is an organisation I love and have always respected for the crucial role it plays in Anglo-Jewish life,” he said.

Lord Levy said he was “honoured that the organisation has created for the very first time” and vowed to continue “all my work for Jewish Care in the same way that I have done for so many years.”

Lewis said it was “a real privilege” to step into the role of president.”I look forward to working together with our fantastic board of trustees and the professional team, led by Daniel Carmel-Brown,” he said.
