Jewish Care opens new residential home at Sandringham

Jewish Care has unveiled their new 64-bed care home Anita Dorfman House, which has just opened at Sandringham in Stanmore.

The carehome’s first residents, who are currently staying at Princess Alexandra House on the 16 acre site, are expected to move in next month.

The redevelopment was built with support from the Dorfman Foundation and named after Sir Lloyd Dorfman CBE’s 91-year-old mother Anita.

Sir Lloyd Dorfman CBE said: “We are thrilled to be associated with Jewish Care’s new visionary Sandringham campus and to have supported the new care home.

“We wanted to honour my mother, and are delighted that so many people will be looked after in this home bearing her name.”

Jewish Care president Lord Levy said: “Today is an exciting milestone for our hugely ambitious Sandringham development project.

“We are extremely grateful to Sir Lloyd Dorfman and his family for their generous support which has enabled us honour Anita Dorfman by naming the new home Anita Dorfman House – a new home for current residents at Princess Alexandra House and members of the wider local community.”

Anita Dorfman said: “I am thrilled to lend my name to Jewish Care’s new home.

“Having recently celebrated my 91st birthday, this is a lovely additional belated birthday present.

“It is a fantastic charity and I am proud that the family foundation has a long association with it, and has supported this project.”
