Jewish councillor Ashley Kissin elected mayor of Redbridge
A Jewish councillor was “over the moon” this week after being elected the next mayor of Redbridge.
Spurs fan Ashley Kissin, a Conservative councillor, moved to Ilford when he was three years old and has lived there ever since, supporting the area’s Jewish community.
A self-employed sales consultant, Kissin, 63, is a former Ilford Jewish Primary governor who has been a councillor for eight years.
“I am absolutely over the moon,” he said. “I feel very honoured that the vote went through unopposed from all the councillors. I am indebted to them for honouring me with this position.”
