Jewish football fans write alternative World Cup song

Two Jewish football fans who penned an alternative World Cup song “for a bit of fun” have spoken of their surprise success, writes Ilana Green.

Matt Keston (pictured) and Matt Blom, otherwise known as the England FC Supporters Trust, were so disappointed with the song chosen to represent England – a version of Gary Barlow’s Greatest Day – that they were inspired to record their own song, Made in England.

Inspired by 1990s hit Three Lions by Baddiel and Skinner, the song has been viewed thousands of times on YouTube, been played on radio stations around the country and features on the Official England World Cup 2014 Album, Come On England.

Blom said: ”What started as a bit of fun has turned into something more than we could have ever imagined. We are both really happy with the response.”

The pair have now arrived in Brazil to cheer on England.
