Jewish mum from Hertfordshire in Great British Bake Off

Friday night challah maker Stacey, 42, named among this year's batch of 12 bakers in the popular cooking show

Stacey Hart, 42, from Hertfordshire is still in the race to become the queen of cakes

A 42-year-old Jewish former teacher is among this year’s Great British Bake Off contestants.

Stacey Hart from Hertfordshire will be one of 12 contestants hoping to rise to the challenge on the Channel 4 show when it starts next week.

She lives with husband James and three young sons likes to incorporate her Jewish heritage into her baking with a traditional homemade challah with every Friday night Shabbat dinner.

Stacey has fond memories of helping her grandmother make bread and butter pudding when she was a little girl, but it was during university that she really started to bake seriously.

The popular baking series returns to air with its new broadcaster on Tuesday August 29 at 8pm, following much controversy since news of its departure from the BBC was confirmed last year.
