Peace push: ‘Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies’ is Twitter trend

Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies

Despite such a bleak time where tension is escalating on media platforms and in the Middle East, an international campaign has swept the internet to initiate peaceful dialogue between Jews and Arabs, writes Janine Saul.

The twitter trend #JewsAndArabsRefuseToBeEnemies supports civilians under attack and expresses the desire for reconciliation.

Reports show the slogan was started by an Israeli, Abraham Gutman and a Syrian, Dania Darwish in the hope to diminish the dispute between individuals from opposing sides of the conflict.

Gutman said in an interview, “We wanted to create a community of people that oppose this kind of speech and to remind people that in the bottom line we are all just people.”

The trend went viral with photos and Tweets carrying the slogan being retweeted multiple times around the world.
