A man who travelled on a Gaza-bound aid mission led by George Galloway has been revealed as a member of an Islamic State execution gang who called themselves ‘The Beatles.’

Alexe Kotey, who grew up in Shepherd’s Bush in west London, was one of 500 volunteers on the ‘Viva Palestine’ convoy in 2009, and has now been named as one of four Britons from London fighting for IS in Syria and Iraq.

Together with fellow Londoner Aine Davis, who was also named this week, Kotey is believed to have executed prisoners alongside Mohammed Emwazi, who was nicknamed ‘Jihadi John’ by the media, and who was confirmed as killed in a drone strike late last year.

A spokesman for ex-MP Galloway told the Daily Telegraph: “There were 500 people on that convoy and George can’t ever remember laying eyes on this guy. It’s possible he was there but George doesn’t remember meeting him.”

Kotey’s parents are from Ghana and Cyprus, but he converted to Islam in his early 20s after falling in love with a Muslim girl. It is believed that he became close friends with Davis and Emwazi before travelling to Syria.
