JLGB in recruitment drive for youth to “shape the next generation”
Young and middle-aged adult volunteers are being sought by the 120-year old Jewish Lads and Girls Brigade (JLGB) to “shape the next generation”.
The organisation, which trains and develop young Jews aged 8-18 years, announced the new recruitment campaign this week, with current volunteers appealing for new colleagues.
“We need more adults to help shape the next generation,” said JLGB chief executive Neil Martin. “The biggest gap is among the 21-45 age range, where people naturally become more focused on their careers and families.”
Interested adults with “confidence, determination, problem-solving, resilience and grit” are being asked to “give a few hours” a week to mentor and coach youngsters. New volunteers have criminal records checks and first aid training, and are put forward for the organisation’s leadership and development programme.
“JLGB is not just a club for having fun,” said Martin. “It is an investment in the future. The new adult leaders will help provide a positive future for young Jewish people – and we’ll provide them with everything they need.”
