Katie Hopkins suggests Ed Miliband should gas his wife

Katie Hopkins

Katie Hopkins courted yet more controversy today by suggesting Labour leader Ed Miliband should gas his wife.

The columnist and reality TV star was responding on Twitter to a poll on the popularity of politicians’ wives, in which Miliband’s wife Justine came bottom of the list.

In response, Hopkins tweeted: Pollsters say Justine is the least popular of party wives. He [Ed Miliband] might stick her head in the oven and turn on the gas.”

The Labour leader has often spoken about his parents’ flight from Nazi persecution, which a number of Twitter users, including Piers Morgan, pointed out to Hopkins.

Hopkins has also been accused of behaving in “a dangerously provocative way” after suggesting Pakistani men in the Rochdale area were sex abusers.

The celebrity has been reported to police by the town’s MP, Simon Danczuk, over claims she may have incited racial hatred with a series of comments on Twitter.

Outspoken Hopkins is said to have started sending the tweets after Mr Danczuk attended the raising of a Pakistani flag over the town hall for half an hour on March 23 to mark Pakistan’s National Day.

She wrote: “Raising a Pakistani flag in Rochdale is not helping community cohesion. it is inflammatory. @SimonDanczuk you & your party disgust me.”
