Labour expels activist accused of saying ‘Israel lobby’ paid MP £1m
Ian Humphries, a former member of the East Devon CLP, is alleged to have sent antisemitic posts
A Labour activist alleged to have suggested Labour MP Jess Phillips received £1million from the “Israeli lobby” has been expelled from the party, it is understood.
Ian Humphries, a former member of the East Devon CLP, is alleged to have written and shared a trove of antisemitic conspiracy theories on social media.
The Twitter account GnasherJew shared in January several screenshots of racist posts allegedly published by Humphries, prompting the Birmingham Yardley MP to report concerns to the party.
Among the material was the claim the BBC is run by the Conservative Party and the “Israel lobby,” allegedly disseminated online by Humphries last year.

In other messages, Humphries allegedly wrote that “Tories just keep giving away money to the rich, as just to keep Murdoch and the Rothschilds happy.”
Humphries was among dozens of signatories to a letter in the Dorset Eye last year, urging the party to resist calls to adopt all examples accompanying the IHRA definition.
Humphries was contacted and declined to comment.
