The 2014 eight-day Maccabi Lawn Israel Bowls tour concluded on Monday, and proved to once more being a huge success.

Seventy three people, including 54 bowlers made up the GB delegation, which split into two groups, enabled them to visit all of Israel’s lawn bowling clubs at Ra’anana, Ramat Gan, Haifa, Netanya, Kiryat Ono and Savyon.

Competition was of a high standard with the MGB team facing Israeli internationals and Maccabiah players. The group also visited Sderot, near the Gaza border, Jerusalem and educational and welfare centres in Afula as well as being addressed by Matti Friedman, who was a prominent correspondent for the Associated Press.

MGB Vice President Stuart Lustigman, who organised and headed the tour, said: “This was my fifth lawn bowls tour and by far the largest and, although I was somewhat apprehensive, the group performed magnificently in all respects and were a credit to Maccabi Lawn Bowls. I was very proud to lead such a significent group in support of Israel.”

Linda Pacifico was awarded top lady player and Eddie Bordoley top man player.
