Luciana Berger elected first parliamentary chair of Jewish Labour Movement

The shadow minister for mental health will chair the organisation’s new parliamentary and political council

Shadow Mental Health Minister Luciana Berger.

Luciana Berger has been elected as the first parliamentary chair of the Jewish Labour Movement.

The Liverpool Wavertree MP and shadow mental health minister will chair the organisation’s new parliamentary and political council – the main vehicle through which parliamentarians will engage with its work.

She said: “I am excited to be joining JLM’s leadership team as the movement prepares to mark its centenary of affiliation to the Labour Party. JLM has a key role to play in strengthening what should be a natural alliance between the party and the Jewish community.”

Meanwhile, Ivor Caplin, the former defence minister, is to chair the group’s south east region.
