A man in France has been arrested on allegations of rape and death threats against a Jewish woman to “avenge Palestine.”

The man was arrested in a Paris suburb after he allegedly held a Jewish woman hostage in her own home, threatening to kill her. The woman eventually managed to contact her mother on the phone, alerting her to the situation.

The suspect is reported to have sent a message to the Jewish woman’s mother, saying: “Good luck, you will never find your daughter, you will never see her again.”

The prosecution later dropped the accusation of kidnapping from the charges he is facing.

He will stand trial for the serious accusations on June 21. Antisemitism has spiked in France as well as the rest of Europe since October 7, with Jews being threatened, assaulted and harassed in connection to Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.
