The former manager of late comic book legend Stan Lee has been charged with elder abuse in Los Angeles.
Keya Morgan, 42, is charged with five counts of elder abuse, including false imprisonment, fraud and forgery, relating to his handling of the Marvel superhero visionary, who died in November last year aged 95.
Morgan, a memorabilia dealer from New York, became involved in the management of Lee’s affairs after the death of Lee’s wife Joan in 2017, but was served with a restraining order last summer by Lee’s family, who suspected elder abuse.
In court documents last year, Morgan was alleged to have seized control of Lee’s Hollywood home and hired guards to turn away relatives and friends, before moving the ailing comic book creator to another apartment.
Lee, who was born Stan Lieber to Romanian Jewish immigrant parents, became known to his fans as the co-creator of comic book characters such as Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk and Iron-Man.
