Mein Kampf to be published in Germany for first time since Shoah

Adolf Hitler’s political manifesto Mein Kampf is to be published in Germany for the first time since the Second World War – for scholars to study it.

Jewish groups have resisted the move, arguing that the racist diatribe – which translates as ‘My Struggle’ – should never be republished. 

Copyright is owned by the State of Bavaria, who have so far blocked reproduction for fear of inciting racial hatred, but officials now say they will limit public access to the text.

The Institute of Contemporary History (IfZ) plans to print 4,000 copies with some 3,500 notes, with expert comments “shattering the myth” surrounding the manifesto.
