Mill Hill shul issues guidance ahead of reopening
Those saying kaddish will be given priority for attending minyan while all members are told to bring PPE as well as their own books, tefillin and talits
Mill Hill United Synagogue has issued guidance about its phased reopening, as the community comes out of coronavirus lockdown.
A single minyan (quorum of 10 people) will be held from Monday 6 July during the week at 7.30 am.
Pre registration will be required for attendance, with priority given to those saying kaddish.
This comes after the government announced that as of 4 July, places of worships in England will be able to reopen, including for weddings with a maximum of 30 guests.
All attendees for Mill Hill’s minyans must be over the age of 12, and must bring their own books, talits and teffilfin for prayer, as well as Personal Protective Equipment, including masks.
Before and after the service the synagogue will be cleaned, and during prayer, attendees will have to observe social distancing with clearly marked seats.
The synagogue also outlined that just one person will do ark openings, the Chazan will remove the torah himself, and there is no singing allowed.
Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet said in an email, “we would personally like to thank members for their help and support during this difficult time. It is a period unlike any we have experienced, and compliance with the above rules, and attentiveness to announcements of changes will be greatly appreciated.”
