Josh Herman, 15, was missing for 48 hours before a member of the public spotted him in a garden in Barnet thanks to widespread publicity campaign

A JCoSS student missing in London since Saturday has been found safe and well in a garden near his friend’s house in Barnet.

Josh Herman’s mother had reported him missing to the police on Sunday morning after he had left his father’s house without his phone the night before and hadn’t returned home.

After the community responded to the family’s call for help in locating the 15-year-old by joining search parties and posting his image on social media, Gloria Herman told Jewish News that a woman named Jean Gibb called her on Monday at 5pm telling her that she had seen Josh in a garden. Gibb said she recognised Josh either from social media or the many posters of him hanging in the neighbourhood.

Gloria, who at the time had been on a search mission with Josh’s friends and some of their parents, quickly found out that the address Gibb was the home of his best friend.

She said: “I cried tears of happiness and was so relieved when we found Josh. I think he has some guardian angels looking out for him. I know it could have been a very different story.”
