Nancy Reuben pupils record podcast with Chief Rabbi

Nancy Reuben Primary pupils got their first taste of broadcasting in an exclusive interview with the Chief Rabbi this week.

The 12-minute interview released yesterday was the first episode of a new programme called the Nancy Reuben Podcast, available online.

Children from Years 1 to 6 recorded the episode with Rabbi Mirvis in his office, with questions ranging from his personal life to his career. “For me to meet up with children is the best thing I can do as Chief Rabbi so thank you for coming today,” rabbi Mirvis told his young hosts.

“Congratulations to everybody at Nancy Reuben, which is a wonderful school. I’ve been honoured by you coming to me. Have a Shana Tova and please God by following the words of Hashem, you will always be happy.”

The podcast, which was the idea of new deputy headteacher Daniel Sunshine, will see over the coming months interviews with members of the community and organisations.

Headteacher Anthony Wolfson said the school was “honoured” to have been given the interview opportunity.”The Chief Rabbi was absolutely brilliant with the children,” he said.

“The messages the Chief Rabbi imparted through the answers he gave to the questions are wonderful lessons for everyone.

“We hope the podcast initiative will enable our children to develop links with many organisations and people across the community and beyond.”

You can listen to the first episode on Soundcloud here.
