New head teacher for Hasmonean Boys’ School announced
Miriam Langdon, who has worked at the school since 2007, vows to promote an "inclusive and engaging learning environment"
A former finalist in the Royal Society teacher of the Year Awards has been named as Hasmonean Boys’ School’s new head.
Miriam Langdon – who studied natural sciences at Magdalene college, Cambridge – has previously served as assistant head teacher, head of science and head of sixth form.
Teaching at Hasmonean since 2007, she was previously a finalist in The Royal Society Biology Teacher of the Year awards in 2017.
Langdon said: “I am honoured to be able to take over the Headship of Hasmonean Boys’ School. My top priority is to provide a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment and fulfil our school vision of Torah im derech eretz. I am committed to promoting academic excellence, social responsibility and personal growth for every student whilst continuing to maintain the high level of Kodesh provision. I look forward to working with all teachers and parents as partners in achieving these goals.”
She will be working closely with Rabbi Jeremy Golker, Menahel of Hasmonean, to ensure that all decisions are made in accordance with school’s ethos.
Hasmonean MAT CEO, Andrew McClusky, said: “It was a thorough and demanding recruitment process which involved trustees, governors, staff and students. We are confident that Mrs Langdon has the skills, depth of experience and personal qualities to successfully lead the Boys’ School. I look forward to continuing to work closely with her to enable students to fulfil their great potential.”
