New Limmud chief is “expert in crisis communications”

An IDF spokesman who claims to be “a trusted source to many of the world’s leading journalists” has been appointed the new executive director of Limmud.

Eli Ovits, an “expert in crisis communications,” has worked in investment banking as well as at JNF, the Embassy of Israel, The Israel Project (TIP), the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Bnei Akiva, the Mizrahi Federation and most recently at the non-profit Jerusalem U, whose main campaign is called ‘Step Up For Israel.’

Limmud Chair David Hoffman paid tribute to Ovits’s “initiative and creativity,” adding: “He combines a profound understanding of the UK Jewish community with broad experience working with Jews from around the world.”

Ovits, who studied at Leeds before leaving the UK for Israeli in 2003, said: “I am humbled and excited by the opportunity to help Limmud expand, touching multitudes from all walks of Jewish life.”

A record 3,000 people attended Limmud 2015, which was held for the first time in Birmingham, after having outgrown its former base at the University of Warwick.
