The forthcoming academic year will see six new faces join the Union of Jewish Students team.

Spearheaded by incoming president Josh Holt, who takes over from Josh Seitler, the new UJS team will assume its responsibilities in July.

Helping Jewish student societies (J-Socs) across the UK and Ireland will be three new J-Soc officers, Kathryn Rose, Grace Diamond and Daniel Rafaeli.

President-elect Josh Holt told Jewish News: “From a strong pool of candidates, I truly believe we have selected the best people possible to deliver UJS’ work to campus, and I cannot wait to start working with them in July! The new team is diverse and strong, and I look forward to UJS expanding its successful campaigns on mental health and Liberation, continuing to shape campus conversations about Israel, creating career networks, and bringing a massive range of programmes to Jewish students with our new Campaigns Officers.”

Liron Velleman will take over Josh Nagli’s role as Campaigns Manager, tackling anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias on campus. Velleman will be joined by two new officers, Sam Gold and Rebecca Filer, who he said are both “experienced activists who know what it takes to lead and support innovative campaigns and are passionate about supporting more Jewish students to get involved.”

He added: “The introduction of an additional Campaigns Officer will allow UJS to strengthen and widen this year’s successes, including on Liberation, anti-racism, anti-fascism (ARAF), Holocaust education, combatting anti-Semitism, interfaith activity and Bridges Not Boycotts, as well as setting the campus narrative on Israel more broadly. Rebecca and Sam bring experience, enthusiasm and creativity and I am looking forward to working with them both, during what is set to be an exciting year for Jewish students on campus.”

UJS staff who will remain in the team include Hannah Sharron, Emanuele Boccia,Natacha Woodcock, Nick Sunshine, Lindsay Davidson and Executive Director David Brown.
