Care home gets £38 million redevelopment go-ahead
Nightingale Hammerson can begin work on its north London house, increasing capacity by over 100
A Jewish charity providing care for the elderly has been given the go-ahead for a £38 million redevelopment by Barnet Council.
Nightingale Hammerson can now start work on Hammerson House in The Bishops Avenue, between Highgate and Hampstead, with trustees saying the work would “significantly increase” the capacity of the home to 116 residents.
The new building will include lounges opening up to sheltered winter gardens, sociable spaces and specialised spaces for Namaste care, a therapy specifically designed for residents living with advanced dementia.
Chairman Melvin Lawson said: “The needs of older people in the community are evolving and we must be able to provide homes with flexible care solutions.”
