PM Boris Johnson says Labour are ‘fratricidal antisemitic Marxists’

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he wants to win an election “against the fratricidal antisemitic Marxists” in a thinly-veiled reference to Labour.

In an address at the Manchester Convention Centre on Wednesday, he told the  Conservative Party Conference: “Let’s get Brexit Done.

“Let’s get this thing done, and then let’s get ready to make our case to the country against the fratricidal antisemitic Marxists, who were in Brighton last week,” he said, referring to Labour’s conference in the seaside resort last month.

Labour, which is under investigation by the Equalities Human Rights Commission over allegations of antisemitism, has denied claims it handled complaints unfairly.

In a statement earlier this year, a spokeswoman for the party said it remains “fully committed to the support, defence and celebration of the Jewish community and is implacably opposed to antisemitism in any form.”

A Labour Party source said:  “This baseless political attack comes from the Prime Minister who is a cheerleader for Donald Trump who refused to condemn neo-fascists in Charlottesville who chanted ‘Jews will not replace us’, and who supports governments which actively promote antisemitic policies in Hungary and Poland.

“Boris Johnson’s party is rife with racism, with polls showing a majority of Conservative members hold bigoted views. They are emboldened and encouraged by Boris Johnson’s own comments, which incited a 375 percent increase in hate crime in our country.”
