Police seize 1.5kg of suspected cocaine in raid on Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’
Former caretaker Justin Terry was arrested and remanded in custody after a raid last month
Police discovered one and a half kilos of suspected cocaine in staff accommodation at a private school in Elstree with a sizeable Jewish population.
Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School’s former caretaker Justin Terry, 45, was arrested and remanded in custody after a raid on 31 October.
He was charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and has been remanded into custody.
The raid was part of Operation Relentless, a police investigation into drug supply networks in Hertfordshire.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said “the school is fully supportive of the police investigation and there is no threat to the wider school community.”
“As part of this work, we depend on members of the community to help us crack down on drug related crime. Any information you can provide, no matter how small it may seem, could greatly assist us,” the spokesperson added.
A second man, 53-year-old Martin Walsh from Watford, was arrested in Liverpool in connection with the operation.
He was charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine and amphetamine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property.
In a statement, the school said: “We are aware that a member of our non-teaching staff has been arrested and charged by Hertfordshire Police on drugs-related offences.
“The police have confirmed that the alleged offences do not relate in any way to other members of the school community.”
