Post by Corbyn’s speechwriter claimed Israel ‘frames’ opposition as Jew-hate

The Facebook comment from 2015 also compares Israel calling itself a Jewish state to the idea of Britain labelling itself a 'white state'

Jeremy Corbyn’s speechwriter appears to have claimed that Israel seeks “to force situations where opposition can be framed as antisemitism” four years ago.

A Facebook comment sent in 2015 before Alex Nunns became Corbyn’s speechwriter was discovered by investigative reporter Iggy Ostanin and shared today.

It goes on to compare Israel calling itself a Jewish state to the idea of Britain labelling itself a “white state.”

“On the bigger scale, by Netanyahu’s sudden and novel insistence that Palestinians recognise Israel as a Jewish state, an extraordinary demand for an ethno-specific state (imagine if Britain demanded to be recognised as a White State),” it reads.

Nunns also appears to have ‘liked’ another post in 2013 that claimed Israel “exploits” the Holocaust, which was also unearthed by Ostanin.

“Can someone suggest how Palestinians are meant to resist occupation peacefully when […] the world continues to tiptoe around Israel while it exploits and pi**es on the memory of its own people’s tragedy in the ugliest, crudest way by attempting to shut down its opponents in the name of antisemitism,” it read.

A Labour Party spokesperson said: “We don’t comment on staffing matters.”
