Primary and special needs schools enter ‘first-of-its-kind’ partnership

A new special needs school and a north London primary school are teaming up in a “first-of-its-kind” partnership for the Jewish community.

Gesher, which will welcome its first special educational needs students next September, has inked a deal to be based at Sinai Primary School, allowing pupils of all abilities to integrate and work side-by-side.

Gesher will be recruiting specialists to work with children facing challenges in verbal communication, literacy, motor skills, attention, social interaction, sensory processing and/or anxiety issues.

“This is an exciting milestone,” said Gesher co-founders Ali Durban and Sarah Sultman. “Sinai has a reputation for academic excellence and this partnership means that, from day one, our children will be in an established educational environment.”

Lee Glassar, chair of Governors at Sinai, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gesher and its staff and students to the Sinai family. Although we are pleased that the new school has decided to make its home at Sinai, our partnership is very much more than a matter of simply providing space.”
