Project Israel Pumas set for summer 7’s comp

The project Israel-sponsored London Pumas

London Pumas, the Project Israel sponsored rugby union team, are entering two teams for the Find Rugby Now 7’s competition.

Being held at London Wasps’ RFC ground in Acton on 25 July, the two sides will be covering both the Elite and Open sections, including three current Welsh internationals who will be competing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, in an event which is the most prestigious of the summer 7’s competitions in the UK rugby calendar, with 15 top female teams entered.

Sporting the Project Israel strip that the Pumas wore for their recent Israel tour, Pumas assistant coach Jon Collins said: “The Pumas are an invitation rugby union side affiliated to the Israel Rugby Union as well as the Home Unions. We wear the same strip as we wore in Israel emblazoned with both the London Pumas & Israel Rugby Union motifs. That is our strip and we wouldn’t have it any other way”.

Turning out for the Pumas is former Israel captain Alexis Bloom, while Laura Kapo, Jo Emslie and co-coach Ellisha Dee have been recently elected to the Board of Project Israel
