Former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations and United Kingdom has said the situation in the Middle East has slowly brought about a better understanding of Israel.

Ron Prosor was speaking at the BICOM annual dinner last week, where he was in conversation with his friend Tim Marshall, the former diplomatic editor for Sky News.

Prosor said something was “wrong with the way Israel and Jews are singled out,” a complaint he routinely made at the U.N, and said “Israel is on the frontline, encountering phenomena the West has not yet had to face”.

The evening also heard from BICOM chair Edward Misrahi and dinner chairs Yoyo Allalouf, an Israeli businessman, and Laurent Zmiro, an investment banker, who spoke about BICOM’s work.

In attendance were BICOM President Poju Zabludowicz, Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Deputy Israeli Ambassador Eitan Na’eh and representatives from the parliamentary Friends of Israel groups.
