QC who quit role dealing with Labour antisemitism backlog selected as candidate

Jewish Labour Movement criticised Gordon Nardell's selection to run for the Westminster constituency, as being 'rewarded for presiding over a flawed disciplinary process'

Gordon Nardell

A leading lawyer who acted as an independent QC for the Labour Party over antisemitism cases has been chosen as a candidate for the election.

The Jewish Labour Movement criticised Gordon Nardell’s selection as Labour’s hopeful for the Westminster constituency, as being “rewarded for presiding over a flawed disciplinary process” for tackling Jew-hate.

The Jewish barrister was appointed as the party’s first in-house counsel in 2018, tasked with getting on top of antisemitism cases.

By July, he decided to leave the post and return to private practice.

The seat is held by the Conservatives.
