Rabbi Sacks Legacy appoints new UK director of education

The charitable trust which honours the life and teachings of former Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks is appointing a new director of education in the UK.

The Rabbi Sacks Legacy has chosen Rabbi Cobi Ebrahimoff, a renowned Jewish educator and programme innovator, to serve as the organisation’s director of education in the UK.

Rabbi Ebrahimoff brings more than two decades of experience in advancing Jewish communal educational initiatives in both the UK and Israel.

He will focus on bringing Rabbi Sacks’ teachings into schools and helping to develop new innovative educational resources.

Rabbi Ebrahimoff most recently served as rabbi for Tribe, the United Synagogue’s youth organisation, where he was responsible for innovating and delivering creative activities for schools and local communities. He is also the Executive Headteacher at the King Solomon School, an international school in Israel.

Before assuming these positions, he served as head of the Independent Jewish Day School in London, having been tapped for this position following a distinguished tenure and serving for a total of 15 years in several roles within the day school.

Rabbi Ebrahimoff said: “Rabbi Sacks’ teachings inspired a generation of educators like myself to focus on Jewish values and bring Torah to life in the public domain.

“While Rabbi Sacks influenced communities and societies worldwide, he holds a special place in the hearts of the Jewish community in the United Kingdom – both his home and where he served as Chief Rabbi. I am honored to promote the legacy and teachings of Rabbi Sacks in our schools and communities across this country so that the next generation continues to learn from his words.”

Rabbi Ebrahimoff received his bachelor’s degree in education from Tel Aviv University, his master’s degree in educational management from the University of Leeds and his rabbinic ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel following his study in Karnei Shomron Hesder Yeshiva.

He was designated with the honorary National Leader of Education in 2016 by the Department for Education for promoting school improvement across England and holds a National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership from University College London.

Rabbi Ebrahimoff lives in Hendon with his wife and five children.

Rabbi Sacks passed away on November 7, 2020. At that time his professional initiative, the Office of Rabbi Sacks, transitioned to The Rabbi Sacks Legacy to perpetuate the timeless and universal wisdom of Rabbi Sacks as a teacher of Torah, a moral voice, and a leader of leaders.
