Richard Desmond in new autobiography: ‘Dealing with Jews is easier’

Richard Desmond

Press Baron and former Norwood president Richard Desmond has said in a new autobiography that he finds it easier doing business with fellow Jews. Desmond, a Liberal Jew listed as being worth more than £1billion, this week published The Real Deal, a book trumpeted by his own titles, including The Express newspaper.

It was being billed in some quarters as “the story of how a miserable Jewish kid from north London became a billionaire and clambered onto the ramparts of the British establishment”.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Desmond calls himself an outsider, laughing at the idea of him being given a peerage whereby he would be “just another Jew who’s made a few bob and wants to be poncey”.

On his preference for working with other Jews, the 63-year-old owner of Channel 5, says: “Everyone’s having a go at you, so you’ve got to be the fighter.”
