Rosh Pinah praised by Ofsted as it maintains ‘good’ rating

Edgware primary Rosh Pinah has maintained its ‘good’ rating from Ofsted.

The education inspectorate said it was a  “happy, safe place for pupils to learn”, praising it for high standards of teaching and a “strong and vigilant culture of safeguarding” for students.

The school of nearly 400 students was commended for having a “strong and committed group of staff” which “form a caring and cohesive team, with pupils’ best interests at heart.”

It said Rosh Pinah’s governing body was “highly effective” and “governors have close ties with the community the school serves.”

Students’ wider development is “promoted well” and they “learn about how to lead a healthy and safe lifestyle, and they have increasing knowledge of other cultures and faiths”, the report outlined.

Calling its safeguarding procedures “effective”, Ofsted said the school’s leaders “ensure that pupils know how to keep themselves safe” and students “know who to talk to if they are worried about anything.”

The only key criticism levelled at the school by the inspectorate, is that “on occasion, plans do not provide teachers with precise guidance on ways to adapt the curriculum for pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs)”, which it recommended was strengthened.

Writing to parents in welcoming the report, Andrew Rotenberg, the school’s  chair of governors, said it was “especially gratifying” to learn that parents had commented positively about the school to inspectors.

Praising headteacher Jill Howson , he said “we are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated group of professionals working at our school and looking after our pupils.”
