Rubber ducks at the ready for Sam the bath tester!

Few are as lucky as Sam Collins, who was recently appointed the country’s first official bath tester. In terms of job satisfaction, it’s near enough unbeatable.

Some people have it all: the wife, the car, the big house on Hampstead Heath. But few are as lucky as Sam Collins, who was recently appointed the country’s first official bath tester. In terms of job satisfaction, it’s near enough unbeatable.

Bathroom Executive Officer Sam, a 20-year-old Bristol university law student, beat off competition from hundreds of hopeful candidates to land himself in hot water at Bathstore, a national chain.

His new day-job that involves making sure the company’s baths are “completely comfortable and inspire relaxation”.

Recalling how Sam became the company’s first B.E.O, a spokesperson said: “Each candidate was asked to write 400 words about why they liked baths so much.”

Candidates were told they should have taken at least 3,000 baths in their lifetime and “have personable qualities that mirror their approach to bathing”.

Soaking up the news, Sam said: “My friends have had enough of me talking about baths so they are delighted I have somewhere new to vent my passion.”

He added that he “can’t wait to get cracking and testing those baths”, saying: “I’ve got my rubber ducks at the ready!”
