Jewish schoolgirls in London raise £400 for Israel from Bakes and Beauty stall

Year 4 students at Sacks Morasha got their recipes books out then hit the streets to raise money for two charities working in Israel

Tasty tarts and delicious delicacies were on offer from the Finchley pupils

Jewish schoolgirls in London got their oven mitts out last week in a cake-baking effort to raise money for Israeli charities in the wake of the 7 October attacks.

Year 4 students at Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School in Finchley then braved the cold to sell their wares to passers-by on their way to raising nearly £400 for Magen David Adom (MDA) and Jewish Blind & Disabled (JBD).

Inspired by classmates Lola and Ariella, the students also sold beauty products to do their bit for charities working with those affected by the attacks.

Organisers said it was “a heartwarming initiative” by the girls, who managed to raise the impressive sum in just an hour and a half.

“I am proud of doing this sale,” said Lola of her classmates’ Israel fundraising Bake and Beauty triumph. “I hope it makes a difference to the people who are suffering in Israel.”
