School welcomes pupils back tomorrow with ‘I will survive’ spoof video

Teachers at Yavneh Primary in Borehamwood have recreated I Will Survive with hilarious lyrics to welcome children back to school tomorrow

Teachers recreated Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive

Teachers at a Borehamwood primary are welcoming back their students in an unusual and creative way – with a spoof video of seventies hit, I Will Survive.

Yavneh Primary staff created the parody – called ‘We All Survived’ – ahead of welcoming students back into class on Monday.

But instead of the traditional lyrics, the video pays tribute to the hard work of students and staff throughout the pandemic with lines such as “How strange to see the children with no screen around their face, but we survived!”

The school’s head, Caroline Field, said the lyrics to the clip, which features teachers singing and dancing in classrooms, was the brainchild of teacher Mrs Altberg.

“My wonderful creative teachers have done such an amazing job during lockdown, lifting the spirits of everyone and keeping the children motivated with songs and activities,” she said.

“We wanted to finish the lockdown with a finale.  The last few months have been challenging, but we have survived!”
