Seasonal sea lions TikTok clip goes viral

TikTok user Mallory Palmer overlays a video of herself calling out the order of shofar blasts – tekiah, shevarim, teruah, tekiah gedolah – alongside video of the animals

A video combining the call of sea lions with the blasts of the shofar released on social media platform TikTok in the run-up to Rosh Hashanah has attracted almost 100,000 views in just a few days.

In the comedy clip, TikTok user Mallory Palmer overlays a video of herself calling out the order of shofar blasts – tekiah, shevarim, teruah, tekiah gedolah – alongside video of the animals hollering accordingly.

“I’ve been thinking about this all day and I just have to do it,” she says on the video, before adding: “I know that the sounds aren’t perfect but still… Happy Rosh Hashanah!”

Palmer’s posts are not typically about Jewish content, saying the sea lion
clip was “my formal apology to my Jewish following”.
