Israel’s Olympic-bound swimmers were outshone at the national championships by a swimmer who wasn’t quick enough to qualify for Rio.

Keren Siebner helped herself to six gold medals, including beating Brazil-bound Amit Ivri to win the 100m fly.

The 26-year-old missed out on next month’s Games by the slenderest of margins, saying: “I missed the spot by 0.01 seconds [the smallest margin possible]. As much as it hurts, and hard to accept, I don’t regret anything. I gave it all I got, I believed in myself, and most importantly – I DARED.”
