Sela wins Nottingham Open opener

Dudi Sela has got his preparations for next week’s Wimbledon off to a winning start after he won his first round match at the Nottingham Open on Monday afternoon.

Having had to qualify to reach the main draw of the Wimbledon warm-up, the Israeli beat Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver 7-5, 6-4 in just 77 minutes.

His reward for Monday’s win is a tough-looking second round clash against Uruguyan Pablo Cuevas.

Down south at Roehampton, Amir Weintraub was still waiting to get his qualifying campaign for Wimbledon under way after rain forced a delay to the start of Monday’s matches. The stoppage has already seen Yoni Erlich’s first round doubles qualifying match postponed for the day. Shahar Peer and Julia Glushko are looking to get their qualifying campaign underway on Tuesday.
