‘Spectacular’ ceremony held for Menorah Foundation School leavers

Jewish primary school children graduating to secondary school were given an “extra special” send-off on Monday during a unique socially-distanced event in the car park of the RAF Museum in Hendon.

Teachers and Year 6 pupils from Menorah Foundation School, along with their families, all said goodbye during an emotional evening described by school leaders as “spectacular”.

With children breaking up for their summer holidays, educators are being urged to unwind after the most testing term in living memory, with the coronavirus lockdown placing monumental challenges on both schools and parents.

Menorah headteacher Karen Kent spoke of “the pride and nachus that they have given the school” during an evening featuring presentations, Divrei Torah and celebrations of the children’s time at the school.

“The children were reminded about the Torah values that they have learnt and absorbed here, as these will guide them for the rest of their lives,” said Kent.

“There was an amazing ruach (spirit) throughout the evening and the event was a great success and gave all the children the opportunity to be together as a year group to create unity and a memorable farewell.”
