Stamford Hill Orthodox community in ‘rubbish’ deal with Council for Pesach

Orthodox community representatives have won agreement from Hackney Council for alternative refuse collection dates on account of Pesach (Passover).

“We have arranged for additional recycling collections [starting two weeks before Pesach] and which will continue until Erev Pesach,” said a spokesman for the Stamford Hill-based Jewish Community Council.

“In addition, Friday rubbish collections will start as early as 5am. We ask that the community shows appreciation to recycling crews, with the minimum thanks given.”

The partnership arrangement was agreed after approval from John Wheatley, Head of Environmental Operations, who was acknowledged for showing “outstanding respect for the community’s Passover requirements”.
