Teens who visited all 270 Tube stations in one day raise £1,500 for Camp Simcha

Two students who visited all 270 Underground stations in one day have raised over £1,500 for children’s charity Camp Simcha.

Friends Daniel Sasson, 18, and Aaron Rudolph, 19, underwent the marathon charity feat earlier this month – having chosen Camp Simcha, who provide support and “unforgettable experiences” to children suffering from life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, after one of Daniel’s friends was diagnosed with cancer.

Having begun their odyssey in the wilds of Chesham just after 5am, the Stanmore pair ended up at Heathrow Terminal 5 some 18 hours, 17 minutes and 50 seconds later – beating their previous record by almost an hour.

Although the self-confessed transport geeks were some way off the current record of 16 hours, 14 minutes and 10 seconds, set in February, they did manage to raise an impressive total of £1,536.05 – beating their £1,500 target.

Their 2013 challenge raised a similar total for Israeli emergency response unit Magem David Adom. 

Daniel, a student at Liverpool John Moores University, said: “The support we have received by friends and family has been greatly appreciated… especially from my Dad. Driving to Chesham for 5am and picking us up at Heathrow at 11:30pm means he must be madder than us!

“Luckily, time went a lot faster than I thought it would, perhaps it was going to stations and lines we don’t normally travel to.

“And it was a great success for TfL as well – a signal failure didn’t get in our way!”
