Sunday Masters review – week 5

The leaders of both Division’s maintained their 100 percent winning starts to the season, writes Jeremy Silverstone

DIVISION ONE:

Chigwell remain in pole position after their 5-2 win over Waldaf Town, with Adam Stolerman scoring four times, Joel Berg claiming their other. Waldaf, looking to maintain their 100 percent winning start had taken the lead, Lloyd Becker scored both of their goals, one from the penalty spot.

North London Raiders maintained their title challenge with a 3-1 defeat of Faithfold, thanks to goals from Rob Cohen, Dan Hodes and Tony Plaskow. Jeremy Teacher scored Faithfold’s consolation.

Two goals from Mark Wagman and another from Tim Green gave Brady A a 3-1 win over HMH, Simon Ritterband replied for HMH.

Lions remain top of the table as they made it five wins from five, after Max Radford’s double, together with strikes from Marc Morris and Simon Davidson gave them a 4-1 win over Glenthorne.

Marshside found themselves 4-0 up at the interval against Brady B, courtesy of a goal from player-manager Barry Silkman and three own goals. But despite Brady scoring three times after the break, through Roger Kay’s double and James Ryan’s strike, Fara Moghim’s effort ensured that Marshside held on to take the points with a 5-3 win.

St John’s Wood Tigers also scored five times, beating Hendon Harriers 5-1, John Perloff netted a hat-trick, with Ezra Mordecai and an own goal sealing the win. Andy Diamond hit back for Hendon.
