Sunday Masters review – week 8

There were wins for the to three in Division One, while Maccabi London Lions made it six wins from six to increase their lead at the top of Division Two, writes Jeremy Silverstone

DIVISION ONE:

Chigwell remain top of the table thanks to a 4-2 win over Scrabble which keeps intact their 100 percent winning start to the season. Two goals from Adam Stolerman and Richard Slater’s strike saw them race into a 4-0 lead, and although Andy Binstock’s penalty along with Jonny Summerfield’s strike gave the visitors a glimmer of hope, the leaders hung on for the points.

Second-placed North London Raiders maintained their challenge with a 2-0 win over HMH, thanks to goals from David Lederman and Nicky Skone.

Brady A were also victorious, albeit thanks to two goals in the last five minutes, as they edged out Waldaf Town 4-3. Tim Green and Scott Warren scored two each for Brady, with Alex Bourne’s double and James Kaye replying for Waldaf.

Maccabi London Lions made it six wins from six, but they had to come from behind to ensure a 5-1 win. Sam Nourazi’s long-range effort gave Marshside a surprise lead, but goals from David Kyte, Danny Schindler, Jason Harris, Arthur Duke and Marc Morris saw the Lions to a win which extended their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Brady B fought back from three losing deficits to earn a 4-4 draw with Hendon Harriers. Pete Sugarman, Malcolm Hershman, from the penalty spot, Daren Nathan and Phil Silver netted for Brady, with Brian Deal’s double and Andy Diamond and Jon Nesbitt strikes replying for Hendon, who did at least have the consolation of securing their first point of the campaign.
