Tel Aviv City Hall lit up with UAE flag to celebrate peace accord
The municipality building at the heart of the Jewish state's biggest city was lit up with the colours of both flags on Thursday evening
Hours after Israel and the United Arab Emirates announced they had agreed to normalise diplomatic ties, Tel Aviv launched an eye-catching display of the two countries’ newfound friendship.
The municipality building at the heart of the Jewish state’s biggest city was lit up with the colours of both flags on Thursday evening to celebrate the accord, which US President Donald Trump helped broker.
As part of the deal, Israel agreed to suspend its plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.
The municipality tweeted in Arabic that it “sent love from Tel Aviv” and shared footage of the illumination.

Tel Aviv mayor Ron Huldai congratulated Benjamin Netanyahu on the “two great achievements of #peace with the United Arab Emirates and for effectively cancelling the annexation plan.”
“The two actions are important for the security of the State of @Israel,” he wrote.
Earlier this month, the municipality building bore the colours of the Lebanese flag in a bid to show solidarity with the country following the blast in Beirut.
