Thank a teacher for keeping children safe

Parents and pupils are being invited to thank staff in Jewish schools for their work in keeping them safe during the pandemic.

Rabbi David Meyer, executive director of the Jewish Leadership Council’s schools network, PaJes, said all people had to do was to log on to the organisation’s website and post a message of appreciation. “Write the name of the teacher and the school and express your gratitude to the staff, it’s as simple as that”, he said.

Rabbi Meyer told Jewish News he thought it “right and proper for our community to say thank you” and acknowledge that the last year has been at times, quite “scary” for teachers who have been teaching both online and in person, in classrooms where “children don’t wear masks, meaning there is little protection for teachers.” 

In a statement, PaJes said that though school staff “may not appear to be on the front line as NHS workers are…. there is no doubt that they are making incredible sacrifices and playing an exceptional part in the fight against Covid.”
